Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

1. Overview

This Refund and Cancellation Policy outlines the terms under which you may cancel your subscription to ByteRun (the “Service”) and the conditions under which refunds may or may not be granted. By subscribing to or using the Service, you agree to the terms of this policy.

2. Cancellations

You may cancel your recurring subscription at any time directly from the Billing page within your account dashboard.

  • Access Period: Upon cancellation, your auto-renewal will be turned off immediately. You will retain full access to your plan and project environment until the end of your current paid billing cycle.
  • Data & Project Retention: When your active billing period ends, your active project instances will be stopped. Associated project data, storage volumes, and environment settings will be retained for 7 calendar days after subscription expiration. After this 7-day grace period, all associated data will be permanently deleted. You are solely responsible for exporting your projects and data prior to the end of the retention period.

3. General Refund Policy

Except as explicitly set forth in this policy or required by applicable law:

  • Non-Refundable Fees: All subscription fees, recurring plan charges, and add-on purchases are non-refundable.
  • Partial Cycles & Unused Service: We do not offer prorated refunds or partial-month credits for standard cancellations. When you cancel, no cash refund will be issued for the remaining days in your current billing cycle, and your account will remain active through the end of the paid period.
  • Usage & Credit Packs: Any prepaid compute credits, processing tokens, or pay-as-you-go balances purchased for running project workloads are non-refundable and non-transferable once consumed or expired.

4. Plan Changes (Upgrades & Downgrades)

When you change your subscription plan, the change takes effect as follows:

  • Upgrades: If you upgrade your plan mid-cycle, your new plan takes effect immediately, and a new billing cycle begins on the upgrade date. Your previous subscription is cancelled, and fees paid for any remaining days in the previous billing cycle are non-refundable.
  • Downgrades: If you downgrade your plan mid-cycle, your new lower tier takes effect immediately. Your previous higher-tier subscription is cancelled, and no prorated refunds or credits will be issued for any unused time or remaining days on the higher tier.

5. Exceptional Circumstances & Statutory Rights

We understand that extraordinary circumstances happen. Refunds may be evaluated and granted under the following conditions:

  • Billing Errors: If you believe you were charged in error due to a technical glitch or duplicate transaction, please contact us within 30 days of the charge date for a full refund.
  • Service Outages: If the Service suffers an extended, unannounced disruption caused by our platform systems, account credit or prorated refunds may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Statutory Rights & EU/UK Consumer Rights: If you are a consumer residing in a jurisdiction that provides mandatory legal rights to a cooling-off period or withdrawal window (such as the European Union, United Kingdom, or other applicable jurisdictions), nothing in this policy limits, waives, or overrides those statutory rights.

6. Refund Processing & Payment Disputes

  • Processing & Currency: Approved refunds are processed directly through Paddle to the original payment method used at checkout within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your financial institution.
  • Disputes & Chargebacks: If you have an issue with a charge, we strongly encourage you to contact us or Paddle support first to resolve it. Initiating an unauthorized chargeback or payment dispute with your bank may result in immediate suspension or termination of your ByteRun account and associated data.
